Annapolis is the capital of Maryland and apparently the place to get crabs (to eat). Coming from CA I'm used to eating king crab or snow crabs and the rare occasion of dungeness crab; so eating these MD blue crabs were a new experience for me. It was definitely an experience and it takes quite some work to get the suckers open in order to eat the meat however the meat was good!! We went to Wild Country Seafood and then Storm Brothers Ice Cream Factory because there's always room for ice cream!
Spent a day in Monterey. Started off going to Phil's Fish Market for lunch. Ordered the Cioppino in a Bowl and New England Clam Chowder to share with the boy. They also had Canada Dry on their fountain drink selection! (I didn't take a picture of that...sorry.) The food was SOOOOO GOOOOOD and it didn't smell a thing like a fish market aka not stinky. Made the mistake of not wearing stretchy pants. -_- After we walked to the beach which was right outside the restaurant/market. Haven't been to a beach in a while. It was a beautiful day to watch the waves. Then we continued heading south to the Monterey Bay Aquarium! I haven't been there in YEARS!!! I didn't even remember what it looked like. Started off with the famous otters and stuck around for the otter feeding. They're so cute. We thought the aquarium closed at 6pm but when the loud speaker said that they were closed at 5pm, it took us by surprise. We saw most of the aquarium though. Ended the night walking with the sunsetting on Cannery Row. It was a very nice and fun weekend get away.
The boy has been raving about this burger joint in San Mateo for the LONGEST time! Finally tried it. I ordered the Hot Hawaiian Burger along with a Mint Chocolate Chip shake. The burger was good, but not the best I've ever had. Their burger selection are all pretty gourmet sounding. BUT.... The milkshake was SOOOOO GOOOOD! I'd come back and try another burger a while from now, you walk out feeling VERY FULL!!
The boy and I have been officially together for 1yr9mo. A year of that time we've been apart; me in socal and him in norcal. So we rarely got the opportunity to dress up and go out on a nice date. I just wanted to put out that disclaimer so you guys don't think we're a high school couple who have big celebrations each month. Honestly, we always forget each month's mark. But it's nice to get all dressed up and go out to a nice restaurant.
Prior to that we went to Bridges Rock Gym to go bouldering! So much fun and a great workout! Then we headed to SF to eat at Skool.
I also rented a Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 lens from borrowlenses.com. Had lunch with the boy on Friday and when I was leaving his work parking lot, I saw BorrowLenses. So I stopped by and rented the lens. I def want to save up for a wide angle lens. The only problem with this one is that it doesn't autofucus on my entry-level Nikon. So all these photos are manual focused. Gotta save up for a new camera too. hehe. I want the Nikon d7000.
