Tahoe 07.20.13 Part II

After stand up paddleboarding we came back to the campsite to have al pastor tacos and some camp site chillin and ice cream. We were all so exhausted that we took naps. I took mine in the tent and it was so hot in there! After the naps, I wanted to go hiking and exploring; after all, I did rent a lens for the purpose of landscape photography. Jon, Cody, and I drove to Emerald Bay and hiked a short 1 mile trail down the lake (Vikingsholm Trail). The drive there is well above the actual lake and it was breathtaking and when we got down to the actual lake, we were all amazed. The water was so still and blue. There was a sign that said "extremely cold water." I should have took a pic, oh well. (I think they say it's cold because it's snow melt.) We saw girls jumping off the pier and climbing back onto their family boat. I was still in my bikini and was contemplating jumping in. The family encouraged me to do it, I was concerned about the cold water (because of the warning on the sign). I mustered up the courage to do it and asked the family if I could use their boat to climb back onto the pier opposed to swimming all the way back to shore. I'm so glad I did! The water wasn't cold at all. The boys weren't in their trunks anymore but they didn't want to miss out on the fun so they jumped in too. All three of us loved the spontaneity of it all. We came back to the campsite and made 1/3lb burgers with all the fixings and played with some light graffiti and ate s'mores. It was a great trip and can't wait to go back to Tahoe in the summer again! Of course I'll make a trip in the winter as well :)

Tahoe 07.20.13 Part I

I woke up early on Saturday because I had to blow my nose and the tissues were outside; it was 6:30am. Since I was out of the tent I decided to use the restroom, which I ended up waiting 10 minutes for. By that time I was already wide awake. I also saw the sun shining horizontally through the trees and it made me want to go shoot some pics. Jon woke up also and I asked him to go with me to the General Store to get more firewood for the morning after he used the restroom. He didn't have to wait at all! So he went back to sleep and left me with his keys to the car (stick shift O_O). Went to the General Store to buy firewood but it wasn't open yet (6:45am...they open at 7:00am) and I realized I didn't have my wallet either. I decided to take pictures at the lake until the store opened. The view was breathtaking! It was so quiet and serene with just a few dog walkers out. (When we went back to the lake to paddle board, the beach was filled with people! So glad I was able to capture it in the morning.) Took a few snapshots and then went back to the campsite to get my wallet to buy firewood. 7:15am, everyone was still asleep. I stalled a total of 2 times; I was so proud of myself!

Tahoe 07.19.13

Left for a weekend in Tahoe! I rented a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 lens. Thanks ohyuh!!

The boy first wanted a root beer float from Foster's Freeze so we got that before we actually hit the road. I've never been to Tahoe in the summer time; I've always gone in the winter for snowboarding. The first glimpse of the lake was GORGEOUS! You just have to see this place for yourself! It's so grandiose. Got to Camp Richardson at 8pm and immediately started to pitch the tents, despite our hunger. Once we got settled in, we made dinner (ate devoured them before I had a chance to take a photo) and ate dessert (s'mores -- campfire giant roasters marshmallows which are HELLA big). We brought a variety pack of Shocktop from Costco and I was really excited to try the honeycrisp apple wheat. Super good!!!! Tastes like less intense apple sidra. Since I cooked dinner, the boys helped by washing the dishes :) The rest of the crew arrived around midnight. A day of paddleboarding, chilling, and hiking ahead of us! More posts to come!! Stay tuned!
